Ant and Sweet!
Diwali is around the corner. Chandra is too busy in kitchen. It is the time where she gets to see once again her mother-in-law’s culinary skills. She is been the helper in the kitchen as always. With helping in kitchen work, she must listen to her mother-in-law stories. Even though it is quite annoying, she is sort of got adjusted to her new role. Once the sweets are done, Chandra carefully arranged the sweets into the stainless less containers. The sweets are meant for distribution to the neighbors and relatives. Two days to go for Diwali. She is worried that these sweets must not be filled with ants. To save the sweets from ants, Chandra draw a white line around the sweet containers, with the chalk piece that can kill ants.
Blacky and Brownie, tiny ants were roaming the around the kitchen since
the time sweets preparations were started. Not only them, even his friends,
cousins and far relatives already started tasting the uncooked sweets. They
even eagerly waited for the sweets to get completed and decided to stay there for
another couple of weeks.
Now the sweet container is ready. Blacky, Brownie and their groups
are ready to attack, and all stopped at one point, the white border. In the group,
Blacky is the one with high disappointment, stood outside the border. The line
is not lesser than any chakravyuha. Getting in and out, become question mark
for Blacky! Brownie suggested his friend, lets move from here, the line might kill
us. But Blacky is not in the mood to listen. With a fake confidence, cautiously
Blacky, tried taking a step forward towards the white border.
Suddenly, a big shadow above his head. It is none other than, Chandra’s
father-in-law. He could not stop himself from cravings as the ghee and
sweetness aroma filled the house every corner. Due to his diabetes, he is
restricted and kept away from sweets. Hence, he sneaks into kitchen knowing that
Chandra is out to talk to the neighbor about serial and he presumed his wife is
out there to boast herself about the sweets to Parvathy.
Sighted an image coming towards the sweet, on excitement and
nervous, quickly Blacky moved from the border and hides behind the big container
which is next to the sweet tin and peeped out to see the shadow movement.
Before the hand reaches the sweet tin, a voice of interrupted the shadow,
who is none other than his son. He quickly said, “papa, please move out from here.
No sweets.!! Blacky observed that the shadow
slowly moves out from there. Once shadow is cleared, Blacky with a high
jump reached again the border. There is no change to the white border. It is
still thick as it was!!
This time, Blacky tried using his physical power by blowing air. But,
not even a single particle moved out of the border line. The border was too
thick to blow away. Blacky is exhausted but the sweet flavor kept him alive and
it’s fighting spirit.
Eventually, few of his cousins and friends left from the place. “Let’s
go from here”, Brownie says to Blacky. Blacky is not ready to move out from the
sweet container, so Brownie!
While they were waiting, again a shadow above their head. Both
quickly moved out again from the place, but few of their cousins did not. The
shadow is of Mother -in-law. She is started packing few sweets to another
container to share with her favorite friend, Parvathy. Suddenly her eyes got
the attention towards the Blacky’s cousins. “Oh. these ants!” She said to herself
and with the marker, she again doubled the border line thickness. On the shadow
clearance, Blacky and Brownie again reaches the border. Now Blacky is furthermore
upset and it is further far from the sweet container.
With no time, suddenly, it starts drizzling outside. Due to the
ceiling leakage, the rain droplets fell on the border and starts melting away.
In a fraction of second, Blacky & Brownie run towards to the sweet
container and started enjoying the sweets and they cheered each other as “Happy
Diwali”!!
Morale: Nothing can keep ants away from the sweets. π
