Online Meetings

Inspired by work from home -official meetings, today blog is on Office meetings during Work From home.

The most happening activity part of official hours are being part of meeting or conduct meetings.. Uhmmm.. Tired of asking, Am I audible, here I am .. !

 


First of all, why we have these meetings.. silly question!. Uhmmm.. ofcourse to update status  and get update from others!  Apart from status meeting, work from home introduce  lot of informal meetings which was easy to solve while  crossing the aisle for a coffee or to get water or while you stopby to say hi..

 Meetings was always part of official hours.. but work from home meeting got in lot of fun with stress.. ! As the lockdown period lengthened, lifestyle also changed..There is no predefined timings for certain activities like breakfast , lunch or tea time, bathing etc.. in office, almost, everyone time falls in same schedule with few exception. Now, with work from home, everyone is in exception. Manager thinks his lunch time is everyone lunch time where some of us would be waking up that time. And the meetings get scheduled in other's lunch time… Finding a balance in schedule is become trouble…

 I do not know how the power outage happens exactly when meeting is up n running  or when you would be giving a non stop lecture for 2 mins.. Kismat connection…! If kismat connection is right, there comes the buffering.. I think all the 4g brand ambassador should attend meetings to understand the bandwith performance!  

 I enjoy being part of release meetings. More than meeting taking attendance itself a big task. By the time all 23 team members joins , the scheduled timings will be half way done.. I understand everyone has notifications to attend meeting.. but what to do. It is work for home .. you would be running late in grocery or lunch table or being busy in another call  etc.. I do not know how to feel empathy !!

 On all of this, when you would be asked to join video call for a meeting, there comes the fun.. 😊.. very serious issue!.. Haha.. it is really funny to  see everyone with different style.. Nature at its best!..:-)

 


In most of the meeting, more than the meeting content, I have used or I heard is..  in no particular order.

  • Am I audible?
  • Are you with me?
  • Are you able to see the document/app?
  • Sorry.. I had connectivity issues.
  • Your voice is breaking.
  • Are you there?

Well, even though I have lot of complaints, this work from home helped to escape from long meetings… if no mood to  listen, be busy with other stuff… Yupp.. esp. on HR meetings & townhall..:-) sometimes I have prepared lunch during meetings.. very helpful.. 😉

All gold..

 As part of my job, I get to embrace a lot of gold chains/bracelets/rings /earrings, and being a woman, the temptations are real, to wear and own it. These desires grew stronger day by day, which landed me in a spot through the receptionist, where there is no camera coverage and with a deal that I have to allow her to wear it for a selfie. Well, one is taken care of, the wanting to possess at least a few did not allow me to sleep. I could not afford to buy any one of them because our peanut salary gets invisible into the endless loan, education fees, and all the bills. I did not want to become a gold thief, hence for now decided to sleep over the thought.  Days flew fast as the gossip on my Instagram jewel post. Few thought I won the lottery and interestingly, few assumed that my husband is getting black money in his IT job. Impartiality.

  Today  Mythili, “get ready soon. We are late!”. “Why in such a hurry? We have good 30 mins to catch the bus. To be specific, I do not want to wait at the bus stand. The bus stand, that has taken my son’s life. I know something happened there and no one wants to share with me anything”.
