On Travel..

On travel…!

I boarded bus and was searching for window seat..I was travelling from Bangalore to Salem. It takes minimum 3 to 4 hrs to reach Salem by bus. With 2 mins of search, I took a seat next to a lady, looks in her age of 25 to 28. Seated myself, put my bag next to me and was trying to settle down...She was looking outside window and drown deep into her thoughts.. the conductor asked for ticket money, there she turned and looked at driver..

I was running out of change for 2 rupees.. the conductor gave 5 rupees to me and asked us to share it on our own. Two strangers , for 2 rupees , there comes kindness. She said, that’s fine keep it.. I was giving a complete Colgate smile as though I won lottery ticket. Silly me…

She smiled and turned back and started looking at the window..

I started feeling bored , hence I initiated the conversation.

  • Me: What is your name?
  • She: She is Akila, from Tirunelveli. She is going to Salem and from there she will go to Tirunelveli.
  • Me: I was like, umm.. Long journey…next question, where are you working..?
  • Akila: She is house wife and been asked not to work by her parents..
  • Me: Ha… really, why?

I like to listen stories. .who is not right..? Trust me, I am good listener.. so yeah.

  • Akila: I am the only daughter of RadhaKrishna, teacher.  He teaches Tamil in Govt Higher secondary school for 5th grade students. Now, he is at his retired age ..I was named after grandma's (father's mother) remembrance.

She was the pride of her family.. Completed degree in Engineering and was working in Chennai in private company. To divert our conversation, there comes the conductor’s announcement. Bus will stop her for 10 mins.. Please complete lunch if anyone wants..  Lunch break in Akila’s story..

  • Me: I offered her cookies, she picked one and then I asked, are you married.. ?
  • Akila: Yes.. that’s where the problem started.. I got married in the style of “Alaipayuthey” movie..
That gave me jerk to the story.. What? How movie inspires people.. it was my mind voice.. But I could not control laugh.. I was amazed indeed. ..
  • Me:  Wow that’s so cool..!! so does your parents ..
she did not allow me to complete..
  • Akila:  No., they did not agree.. We are from different caste.. so my parents did not agree! And we are no more in touch..!
  • Me: Uhmm.. Where you are going and why you discontinued to work..
  • Akila: I have been asked to discontinue work because that is my father’s money..

His investment on her.. He educated her and using those skills how can she work?
  • Akila: He burnt my certificates too.. I was like ..
  • Me: oh my!

Now she was living with her husband and travelling to her house after attending friend’s marriage…

Long Slience......

There comes the Salem bus stand.. We both need to get down.. All I could tell her is,
  • Me: take care!

But there are few thoughts that haunts me till today.

  • Does caste is important factor for one to get married ?
  • Does parents educate kids because they would be their investment for future?
  • Is parent n daughter love is so weak that her parents cannot accept them?
  • Then still called "parent love is selfless".. ? uhmm..

With these questions, I shall leave you to think as I have no answers till date!

Meet you in next blog…

Saritha Subramanian.

Kanni Maadam

Kanni Maadam- Book Review.. First of all, writing the pure Tamizh names to echo the same is really tough.. However here is my take.. I must appreciate the writer for writing it so lengthy. Even though in few places the description of the situation is dragging, but is not failing to impress neither it is hurts the story line.. The storyline, takes back to the world of king and war! Once upon a time, Tamilnadu was open to dangerous. Everyone wants to rule it because of the wealth or someone gave them space to stay! The story revolves around Madurai and Nellai. During that time, the primary rulers were Pandiyas  (Madurai) and Cholas (Nellai). During the thayathi war, Parakrama pandya was killed by Kulasekhara Pandiya. Before dying, he sought help from Illangarapuran to fight with Kulasekaran. Illllangarapuran defeated Kulasekara Pandyan and made Veerapandiyan as king i.e Parakirama Pandya’s son. So it become like a joke i.e I am wearing a shirt but it is not mine.. or in same line...

A Telescopic view of API

From a Business Analyst- Telescopic View to API The development/technical folks tell you a few words all day and the words register, echo… There is more than one way to deal with that Ignore the echo and start using the words like a pro; beyond that word, you would not have any idea about it. Explore the basics to get familiarised with the words and make yourself comfortable. Third, deep dive into the world and become a techie!! Do not like those words, it annoys you, it is time to change your role.. :-) I belong to the second category. This blog is for the first /second set of people likes to get comfortable with the techie words.! One of the highly used words in my previous organization and here, in my 2nd project is APIs/webservices. My experience with Webserices/API: Around 5+ yrs, with the team who developed Webservices/API.  Now, I am on the other end. Pretty much I have the hands-on experience of both provider and consumer..
